From Whispers to Walls

Our Origin

Our story begins in 1996, with teenager Michael Moore (aka Master Igor) and his twisted vision of what we now know as Igor’s Fright Shack. Some may say the ones even more twisted were his parents, Charles and Bernadine Moore, for allowing his idea to take shape. To this day, we still don’t know why they said yes. Regardless, Igor’s Fright Shack was founded in the rural coal-mining town of Ralph, Pennsylvania.

Over the next seven years, Michael transformed his parents’ garage into a haunted walkthrough every October. Igor's Fright Shack continued evolving into much more, with real sets, a cast of family and friends, and an immersive storyline. As a non-profit, it raised over $2,500 for charity and drew local media attention as well as hundreds of visitors. In 2003, after Michael graduated college, Igor’s closed its doors.

The Next Generation

After a 22-year slumber, Igor’s Fright Shack remained only a memory as Michael Moore focused on building a career and raising a family. But the haunt was never truly forgotten. Stories whispered to a new generation of twisted minds reignited a passion for the long lost haunt. In 2024, Michael and his wife Beth finally gave in to the persistent pleas of their children.

Three generations worked together to revive the Estate of Master Igor, welcoming guests into a one-of-a-kind experience filled with immersive storytelling and fantastic frights. With the help of family, friends, and some confused (yet supportive) neighbors, Igor’s return was a thrilling success. In its first year back, the nonprofit “home-haunt” raised $1,000 for hurricane victims through Catholic Charities USA.
